Anyone Have Advice For Selecting Binoculars For Astronomy?

I'm getting into astronomy, and I eventually aim to buy a good reflector telescope with plenty of aperture. For now, my location and budget make binoculars a better proposition. I was thinking something in the 15x75 range, but I honestly don't know where to start. What kind of magnification, light-gathering, and field of view could I achieve compared to, say, a 60mm refractor telescope?

I recommend 10X50, porro prisms, and fully multicoated optics. “Fully multicoated” is a specific term (i.e. “multicoated” is not the same as “fully multicoated”).
I recommend the book on binocular astronomy by Patrick Moore.
consider – small lightweight for carrying, but I prefer 10×50 for stargazing. 10 x mag power, 50 mm lens. good clear range of vision. great for clusters and nebula…dont have to be a big name, I ahve used Jasons, Meades, Bushnells, they all all work fine (see my profile at myspace/logic1812)
IceDiver writes “I am a teacher in a small rural school. My Grade 9 students are doing a unit on astronomy this spring. I have access to a 4″ telescope, and would like to give my students a chance to use it. We will probably only be able to attempt observations on a couple of nights because of weather and time restrictions. I am as new to telescope use as my students, so I have no idea what objects would look good through a 4″ lens. What observations should I attempt to have my students make? In other words, how can I make best use of my limited equipment and time to give my students the best experience possible?”

anyone have a link to rihanna rude boy video?!
If it was any other company than Google, it wouldn’t be an issue to begin with. The problem is specifically because Buzz is a Google product and they violated the public’s trust on multiple levels. What really throws me for a loop is that this is on the tail end of Facebook’s privacy issues. A key difference though is, nobody uses Facebook as a Rolodex and before signing up for Facebook, it’s understood that it’s a social networking site. Buzz used Gmail as a Trojan horse and was offered as an opt-out service, rather than opt-in.
Need a little bit of jaw-droppiness today? Mwuahahaha. Let me show you …
is 10×50 good becase i buying a new one
