Astronomy Binocular And Multi Purpose Binoculars?
I am looking to buy 2 pair of binoculars but that are so many models that I am really confused. Can anybody help me out and suggest brands and model.
1 - Astronomy Binoculars I have searching online for a good binoculars that will let me look at the skies without much hassle. I saw some giant binoculars at binoculars dot com website and they need a tripod since they are too big. They come in 10x50 and 20x80. Can anybody recommend a good model that isn´t too expensive. I saw some models going for about $150 dollars.
2 - Multipurpose binoculars, even though giant binoculars can be used for daytime view they are very portable that why I would like to get a second pair of binoculars that is portable and has good capabilities for observing the nature, animals, bird watching, and so forth. There are so many options thats why I am hoping you guys will help me out !
Thanks

10×50 binoculars are good for both astronomy and general purpose — though if you are a birder they may not have sufficient close-focus for some targets. If you are going to carry them hiking you might prefer smaller lighter binoculars such as 8×42 or 7×35.
12×60 or 15×70 are good binoculars for astronomy and can be hand-held by some people (I do). For others they may be too heavy to hand hold for long. You will have to determine what your limits are.
10×50’s can be handheld but it certainly helps to props them up against a wall or other convenient object. 7×50’s are slightly better for handheld use but of course are less powerful.
The image stabilised binoculars available come close to being a suitable for both uses. They work very well. Although most of them are on the small side in terms of aperture the IS system more than compensates. I have a pair of Canon 12×36s and I will certainty never part with them. They are also reasonably small and light compared to 50mm binos. Alas, they are not cheap.
Nikon 10×50 Action EX Extreme ATB Binoculars are an excellent choice for both astronomy and general purpose use in your price range. They typically cost around $170. Optical quality is very good, they rugged, and waterproof.
You can find them at many online delaers. Check.www.binocs.com – they usually have competitive prices and good customer service.
I find that my 10×50 binoculars are perfect for every use. I own 15×70s, but almost never use them because of their weight and need for a tripod. I use my 10×50s for astronomy and nature watching.
I have some 11×50, and I was just hand-holding for a few seconds to get a look at Lulin. That worked OK, but I would have been happier with a tripod.
