I'll mildly disagree with the other two answers. I took my 9x63 nikon binocular out the other day and looked at the moon. I was enthralled drugs no prescription with what I saw. Now, those nikon binocular are almost 30% more powerful than the 7x50s, so I saw more detail. Still it was impressive. But, you are not going to see a lot of detail. You'll start seeing some craters and the "seas" on the surface. Other than that, you won't really get into the moon at less than 50x and 100x or more really gets you into the surface details.
My first view of the night sky came with a 35mm telescope and a 7x50 pair of binoculars. Nikon Binocular give a surprisingly good view of the sky. Lots of stars pop out with the additional light grasp. The 7x50s will give you more than 50 times the light gathering of your unaided eyes. That's about 2 1/2 magnitudes. That will add many thousands of stars to your view. Also, if you can hold them still enough, you'll be able to see the moons of Jupiter.
Enjoy!
