Question about eyepieces for astronomy hobbyists?

On eyepieces which have both a 1.25" and 2" barrel, can the 1.25" barrel be unscrewed and removed if you have a 2" focuser? I am looking at the Celestron Ultima LX eyepieces Viagra buy in particular. I live hours from the nearest astronomy store or I'd go play with them myself.
